About Craig Mitchell Smith
As an artist who revels in the alchemy of light, form and possibility, Craig Mitchell Smith found his true calling not by design but by discovery. In 2006, a single fused‐glass class ignited something profound. From a one-time curiosity, glass became his voice: “Medium not only in the sense of the substance used to create my art, but as a voice through which the spirit speaks.”
Craig’s background is decidedly eclectic: he has been a painter, floral designer, set-designer, home-restorer and each of these roles has informed how he approaches glass. He speaks of the kiln as his canvas, glass shards as brushstrokes, and a stainless-steel stem as the structural poetry that holds his botanical visions aloft.
What drives Craig is a fascination with the human condition and the natural world. He regards glass for its metaphors: transparent yet brittle, enduring yet vulnerable. He chooses large scale and unanticipated settings to give voice to his ideas: towering glass dandelions, chandelier-like curtains of glass leaves, or intricate blossoms that challenge and enchant garden spaces.
Craig Mitchell Smith’s installations transform gardens, galleries, and architectural spaces into luminous worlds where light and form dance together. Explore upcoming exhibitions, special appearances, and immersive art experiences designed to inspire wonder.
